‘Walk with you counselling’ is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of you personal information. This policy outlines how we collect, use, and if needed, disclose and manage your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APP’s) under the Privacy Act 1988, and as required by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Collection of personal information

We collect personal information directly from third parties, if required; with your consent, to allow us to provide appropriate and holistic counselling support.  This information may include, but is not limited to;

  • Name

  • Contact details (address, phone number, email address)

  • Date of birth

  • Medicare number details

  • Current and historical health information relevant to your counselling and

  • Emergency contact details

Disclosure of personal information

We may need to disclose your personal information to third parties in the following circumstances;

  • With your consent

  • To other health care providers or professionals involved in your care, with your consent

  • To comply with legal or regulatory requirements, such as mandatory reporting, or if there were significant concerns about your or some else’s immediate safety

  • Or for administrative or billing purposes, such as processing payments

Client information is securely stored in a specifically designed electronic record management system that is only accessible to authorised people. These files do hold your personal information and notes associated with you counselling care.

If a client declines to have their personal information collected and held, ‘Walk with you counselling’ may not be able to provide a service.
